It’s an interview that will make a lot of noise. Cristiano Ronaldo said on Sunday 13 November that he felt “betrayed” by Manchester United, the club that made him a star and helped him win his first Ballon d’Or in 2008. “CR7′ added that coach Erik ten Hag and other senior managers at the club had been trying for months to force him out. In an interview with Piers Morgan, 37-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo said he was having a complicated season. The Dutch coach, who took over the Red Devils last May, has offered him little playing time.

The Portuguese were not even in the squad for Sunday’s 2-1 Premier League win at Fulham. “I have no respect for him because he shows no respect for me,” he said on the popular British TV presenter’s show. “Not just the manager, but two or three other guys around the club. I feel betrayed.”

Asked by the host if the Manchester United management is trying to part ways with him, the Portuguese, who is set to leave for the World Cup in Qatar, said, “Yes, I felt betrayed and I felt that some people didn’t want me here, not only this season but last season too.”

The Portuguese international, after reigning over Real Madrid and passing through Juventus, returned to Manchester United in August 2021. “Since Sir Alex left, I haven’t seen any evolution in the club. I want the best for this club,” said Ronaldo. “I want the best for this club, that’s why I came to Manchester United. But there are internal elements that don’t help us to reach the top level of (Manchester) City, Liverpool, and even Arsenal. […] A club of this size should be at the top though and unfortunately, it’s not.”
